My commute last night had all the makings of a hellish, road-raging, two-hour disaster: rain, terrible traffic, the stupid new iPhone maps app that won't tell me how long it will take me to get from A to B, and with every passing minute, the impending closure of our neighborhood dog bakery where I had to pick up one lucky pup's birthday "cake." And then the one thing keeping me from losing it, my audiobook (the Fug Girls' Messy, which is completely mindless fun, by the way), ended.
On the brink of a total meltdown, through the magic of Spotify, I stumbled upon what can only be described as a soothing balm for road rage: Ed Sheeran's The A Team. Only four songs, but they're soothing and wonderful. Crisis averted.

Ugh! Doesn't sound like a fun commute at all! (is there such thing as a fun commute? Is that an oxymoron?) Unfortunately, we live out in the boons for the husband's job so I have a lovely commute of 140 miles per day in order to work in my field (trademark law). I will DEFINITELY be checking out that audiobook and the music. Anything to keep me sane. Love your blog!

Oh my goodness -- 140 miles makes me feel terrible for whining. Good luck (and FYI, Mindy Kaling's audiobook is also hilarious and got me through a couple of winter snowstorms)!
No no! Don't feel terrible. Sounds like you were entitled to a good whine! Thanks for the other audiobook suggestion. I'll put it on my list. Audiobooks and the random stories on NPR are pretty much the only things that keep me from going nuts. Hoping to start working from home soon! On another topic (since I know you're tall), have you seen any dresses that would work for a fancy dinner? I just tried on several at Nordstrom and didn't have any luck.
Fancy dinner sounds fun! Not sure if you're looking for cocktail or less fancy, or what price point you're looking for, but on the pricey end, Diane von Furstenberg has some really cute below-the-knee styles right now. And J. Crew is offering a couple of their suiting dresses in tall sizes (search for "suiting," not "dresses"): the Origami has a beautiful neckline (I have it and I'm really happy with the fit, although I may let the hem out for just a little more length); and the Memo style is on sale for $149 + extra 30% off right now in some fun colors. With fancy shoes and sparkly accessories you can make them look not-too-officey. Good luck!
